Mike Payne to Serve as Next Director of Public Works in Janesville

According to an update from the City of Janesville, they have selected City Engineer Mike Payne as the next Director of Public Works. He will begin the new role today. Payne began his career in public service as a Project Engineer for the City of Janesville in April of 2000. He served as the Senior Engineer, Assistant Engineering Manager, and Engineering Manager before being promoted to City Engineer in February 2014. Payne received his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. His professional credentials include licensing as a Professional Engineer and a Wisconsin Certified Public Manager. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia's Leading, Educating, and Developing Program and the Leadership Development Academy of Rock County. Payne has been an active member of the Janesville Lions Club for almost 20 years and has been a Scout Leader at the St. William Parish for more than 10 years.
