In an update from Watertown mayor Emily McFarland, she discussed roads within the city. Watertown uses a road rating system called PASER, and every other year the Engineering Division evaluates all the city roads. The roads are evaluated numerically on a 1-10 scale with the following categories:
New to Excellent: 9-10
Good to Very Good: 6-8
Fair: 4-5
Poor to Failed: 1-3
In the last evaluation, Watertown asphalt rated a 6 and concrete was a 6.9. Road maintenance is the city's largest expenditure at about $1.5 million spent on road work.
