Lake Geneva Fire Department Responds to Saturday Night Incident

According to a press release from the Lake Geneva Fire Department, on Saturday at about 8 p.m. they were dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the 1000 block of North St. in the City of Lake Geneva. The first engine company arrived within minutes and found a 2 story residence with smoke coming from second floor and eaves. The fire was located in the second floor walls and attic space. Crews made an aggressive interior attack to suppress the fire, while additional personnel conducted a search of the home to assure all occupants were out. Mutual aid was received from area fire departments to help extinguish hidden fires and to complete overhaul. Five residents were displaced due to the fire, but no injuries were reported. The structure had significant damage from fire, smoke, and water. Captain Ryan Derrick noted that the residence did not have working smoke detectors. Fire crews finished their work at midnight. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
