Juvenile Falls into Fort Atkinson River While Fishing

According to an update from the Fort Atkinson Police Department, last week on Thursday at about 8 p.m. they responded to an incident where two individuals, including a juvenile and a 54 year old Fort Atkinson woman, fell into the river while they were fishing on the Riverwalk in the downtown area. Captain Brandon Sachse from the Fort Atkinson Police Department said that while the two individuals were fishing, the juvenile fell in. The 54 year old woman went in after the juvenile and helped them out of the water, while she herself could not get out. She was then able to get out with assistance of a bystander and police. It was estimated that they were in the water for about 3-4 minutes. Both individuals denied medical attention. Captain Sachse noted that there is no safety concern to the public in regards to other citizens falling into the water; as there are guardrails put in place.
