Janesville Teacher Receives Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s Ag in the Classroom Outstanding Teacher Award

According to a press release from the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation, fourth grade teacher Carmen DeKok at Roosevelt Elementary School in Janesville has won this year’s Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s Ag in the Classroom program’s Outstanding Teacher Award. DeKok integrates agriculture into core curriculum such as reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies and also has local farmers visit the class. DeKok is now the Wisconsin nominee for the National Excellence in Teaching Agriculture Award and will receive a $500 sponsorship to attend the 2022 National Ag in the Classroom Conference in Saratoga Springs, New York or to use for educational resources.
