Janesville Police are praising the community for their help after a welfare check ended successfully.
JPD says they were called to a residence in the 2200 block of South Hawthorne Park Drive to check on an 85-year-old who did not return at their normal time. The individual reportedly was showing signs of dementia. Using OnStar, the department was able to find the vehicle in motion in Oshkosh. After contacting Oshkosh Police, they were able to track down the individual and confirm their safety. The daughter of the individual was contacted by Janesville Police and while they were unable to get to Oshkosh, the individual was given a room at the Oshkosh Holiday Inn.
The individual's neighbor went to Oshkosh to pick up the individual. Janesville Police are thanking the community for their help in making this a successful and happy ending.
