Janesville Police Respond to Physical Domestic Violence Incident

According to the Janesville Police Department, last night at about 11:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to a report of a physical domestic violence incident in the 1500 block of Mole Ave. When officers arrived, the victim was in need of medical attention, and the suspect, who has been identified as 29 year old Gregory Ashford, had fled the scene. He was later believed to be in a residence on Highland Ave. in Beloit, and the Beloit and Janesville SWAT team responded. After hours had passed, Ashford surrendered and was taken into custody. He is now at the Rock County Jail and is charged with substantial battery, criminal damage to property, and physical abuse to a child. He is also on felony probation for burglary to a dwelling and possession with intent to deliver heroin.
