According to an update from the Janesville Police Department, tomorrow Lieutenant Blaser will be presenting at the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Wisconsin Annual Conference. In the presentation, he will walk a group of non-law enforcement stakeholders through a critical incident that will begin with the first realization that a friend or family member is in distress. It will walk them through their own decision making process as to who they would notify and when, and will provide them the opportunity to discuss and explain how they would like law enforcement to respond, how they expect law enforcement to respond, and compare it to how law enforcement may be required to respond. There will be a discussion from the participants regarding what they would like to see happen and what the realities of the system require by statute.
