Janesville Police Inform Community of Stolen/Seized Guns

According to an update from the Janesville Police Department, during the month of August, they received 3 reports of stolen guns, and have seized 6 guns while investigating incidents. Of the stolen guns, two were taken from vehicles assumed to be unlocked. The other was stolen from a residence while it was out in the open. Of the 6 guns that were seized, 4 were found in vehicles that were searched in relation to incidents. Drugs were also found in the vehicles for all 4 of these incidents, and in one incident a black ski mask was also found. The other two guns seized were reported to be in possession of a felon, and were removed from the felon’s home. The Police Department states that stolen guns pose a threat to us all, as they end up in the hands of criminals and are often used in crimes. The Police Department had 31 guns reported as stolen from vehicles in the last year and a half alone, and asks you to report any incident similar to this that may have happened to you.
