Janesville Fire Department Responds to Residential House Fire Sunday Night

According to an update from the Janesville Fire Department, yesterday at about 5:30 p.m. they responded to a residential house fire on Holmes St. When the department arrived on scene, the back side of the two story home was engulfed in flames. Fire spread throughout the attic and the home was evacuated. Firefighters searched the home and rescued four cats. Five people were displaced. A resident reported he reset an electrical breaker several times before smelling smoke. Units were on scene for about four hours, and fire watch of the building was provided overnight. Cost of damages is approximated to be about $140 thousand.
