A prominent topic of discussion at last night’s Janesville City Council meeting was an ordinance that would ban dogs from Janesville’s public cemeteries; Oak Hill Cemetery and Dillenbeck Cemetery. Ultimately the council decided that dogs can continue to be in the cemeteries, but will reinforce City Ordinance Section 8-3(c) which states that dogs must be on a leash that does not exceed 6 feet, and must be in control by their owners. Also, the city will be placing additional signage in the cemeteries to remind residents to maintain control of their dogs.
