Geneva Lake Police Respond to Saturday Boat Crash

According to an update from the Geneva Lake Police Department, on Saturday at about 7 a.m. they were informed of a boat crash on Geneva Lake. Two boats had collided, and one person was critically injured with CPR in progress. The boats in the crash went directly to a private pier on Basswood Dr. in the Town of Linn. Other units on scene included Linn Police, Linn Fire and Rescue, and Lake Geneva Fire and Rescue. In the incident, a Sylvan was southbound heading out of Williams Bay with three people on board. A Skeeter was westbound coming from the area of Black Point with two people on board. The skeeter was traveling around 30-35 miles per hour, and the Sylvan was going between 10-15 miles per hour when the Skeeter struck the Sylvan in a T-bone manner on the port. A 66 year old male from Illinois was seated on the deck in the Sylvan facing backward and was struck during the crash. Lifesaving efforts were made, but unfortunately the male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. To other males were transported to the hospital for their injuries. Two adult males in the Skeeter were not injured. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident, and the Wisconsin DNR is leading investigation of the crash. More information will be given if it becomes available.
