Fort City Council Approves New Ordinances, Postpones Another

Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m., Fort Atkinson held its City Council Meeting. The main focus of the evening was a set of four ordinances related to public intoxication and alcohol consumption. Of the four ordinances, both 58-73 (11) and 62-4 were approved right away, with the former making public urination a disorderly conduct offense, and the latter making it unlawful to consume alcohol in a public park after hours.

The Council also approved a resolution to allow the issuance and sale of up to $14,125,508 in Sewerage System Revenue Bonds.

Another ordinance was proposed to annex the territory along Baker Road to the City of Fort Atkinson. This ordinance was presented by City Manager Rebecca LeMire, who suggested it be postponed to a future reading. The Council was very optimistic about this ordinance, but agreed it needed more time to be written perfectly. LeMire stated that while it would be another delay, it would not impact any of the city planning for the year.
