Fort Atkinson City Council Recap

The Fort Atkinson City Council met publicly for less than a half hour on Tuesday night.

Among the topics, the presentation of the proposed city map from the 2020 Census was given. Fort has 5 supervisory districts with 10 wards and a tentative supervisory district, with all council members at large. The single voting location in Fort is not expected to change, and the map can not be as was described as “flowing”, as it would be an enormous amount of work for city staff. There was no planned vote on the budget, as it would be in the next agenda, but it will be made available for public consumption. Fort is very limited in what changes to districts can be made, as that comes at the county’s disposal, but the city can provide input they feel is necessary.

The council did approve an action relating to a property on S Main St in Koshkonong that would allow for a one lot certified survey map.

Additionally, the City Manager said the 2022-2026 budget draft would be released on Thursday ahead of the October 12 meeting on the matter. The city also welcomed new deputy city clerk Courtney Toom this week, filling the last city vacancy.

The board also heard a proposal from Vandewalle Associates, who is working on the Banker Road project, to use $8,320 to build maps for the city. $3,000 plus would be split across the funds with $800 plus coming out of each account. The council approved maps to be prepared as recommended by city staff.

The council went into closed session shortly thereafter.
