Evansville man Facing OWI Charge After Vehicle Rollover Crash

According to a press release from the Green County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday at about 9 p.m. deputies, Albany EMS, the Albany Fire Department and Belleville EMS, responded to the intersection of County Highway C and Brooklyn-Albany Road in the Town of Brooklyn for a report of a single vehicle rollover crash with injury. Investigation determined the operator, 23 year old Evansville resident Spencer R. Franklin, was traveling east on County Trunk Highway C when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. Franklin's truck exited the roadway into the east ditch and began to roll. The truck rolled approximately 4-5 times and went airborne, coming to rest in a cornfield.

Franklin reported not wearing his seatbelt and being injured. The truck sustained disabling damage and there was no airbag deployment. Franklin was transported by EMS for his injuries. The lone passenger, 24 year old Monroe resident Kaitlin M. Carpenter, reported wearing her seatbelt and sustained non-life threatening injuries and was also transported by EMS.

Further investigation resulted in Franklin being placed under arrest for Operating While Under the Influence of Alcohol - 1st Offense. Franklin was also cited for driving too fast for conditions. Franklin was later released to a responsible party with a future court date. The truck was towed from the scene.
