According to a press release from the Elkhorn Police Department, yesterday 70 year old Francisco Garcia from Lake Geneva was walking on County Highway H when he was struck by a pickup truck that did not stop after hitting Garcia. Officers were dispatched at about 10:30 p.m. to the 400 block of County Highway H after he was found not breathing in a ditch. Officers attempted life saving measures, but Garcia succumbed to his injuries received at the scene of the crash.
The police department is still looking to locate a silver GMC pickup truck that was last seen traveling south on County Highway H from the scene. The pickup truck is believed to have minor damage to the passenger side headlights and surrounding area. Anybody who has information regarding a silver GMC pickup that matches the description is encouraged to call the Elkhorn Police Department at 262-723-2210 and ask to speak with Detective Kim Bass at extension 208.
