At last night’s Elkhorn Common Council Meeting, the council briefly met and passed numerous topics. The council passed a motion to give police chief Joel Christensen and the police department approval to hire a new sergeant after a resignation.
Amended ordinances were also approved, including one that changes the city’s burn ordinance. Residents spoke at a previous meeting about the ordinance, hoping to be able to have open burns. The council passed an ordinance to amend the city’s aldermanic districts and the city’s ward boundaries.
Additionally, the city administrator, who announced his impending retirement at the previous meeting, discussed the hiring of the new city administrator. The hope was to have someone in the role by Mid-April, and the first order of business would be to hire a new finance director. It was asked if more than two weeks of training would be better for the new administrator, and the board passed the plan.
