Elkhorn Common Council Approves Installation of Water Mixers at All Water Towers

At this week’s Elkhorn Common Council meeting, they approved the installation of water mixers and SCADA control boxes at the City’s three water towers for a cost of $42.6 thousand. The City’s proposed capital improvement plan for 2023-2027 calls for installing a water mixer at each of the City’s water towers over the next three years. However, in order to prevent potential bacteria problems, the City will install all three water mixers in 2023. Installing the water mixers will not only improve the water quality, but will save the City money on chemicals (i.e., chlorine) in the long-term. Mixers are an industry standard for water towers.
