Electric Scooters Coming to Janesville

According to an update from the City of Janesville, shared electric scooters will be coming to the city beginning on Monday, August 15 for a pilot introduction to the city. 75 scooters will be deployed for the pilot, which ends on October 31. Riders must be at least 18 years of age, and the scooters must be used on sidewalks, bike lanes, and streets with posted speed limits of 25 miles per hour or lower. The scooters have a maximum speed of 15 miles per hour. Riders should always obey traffic signals and watch for cars, pedestrians, and cyclists. Scooters must be parked out of the way of pedestrians and never block sidewalks, ramps, doorways, or driveways. Riders are encouraged to always wear a properly fitting bike helmet. Following the completion of the pilot program period in October, the City Council will consider extending the memorandum of understanding to allow for the return of the scooters in Spring 2023.
