A truck with the Fort Atkinson Fire Department has returned to service after being damaged in a wreck.
Squad 8188 returned to active duty after repairs at the Pierce plant in Weyauwega. It was damaged in an accident while working an accident itself on Highway 26 in December 2020. The truck was struck by an SUV, creating significant damage. No firefighters were seriously hurt.
The department is also going to a new numbering system to mirror a county wide change. All Fort units will start with the number 81, followed by a 3rd number which designates the type of apparatus, and a fourth number that denotes the unit number. This change will be completed in the new year.
