City of Jefferson In Process of Creating Affordable Housing

The City of Jefferson is currently in the process of creating more affordable housing in the community. The typical Jefferson resident income is between $40-60 thousand, and affordable housing would cost about 30% of that income. City Administrator Tim Freitag discussed where some of the affordable housing units will be located in the city. He said "The subdivision the city is putting in is on the western corporate limits of the community, just south of the Jefferson County Fair Park. The city has a number of projects spread throughout the community. Our most recent one is a site downtown that was acquired and converted to multi-family housing. That one is right on the river, right downtown." This is an ongoing project, and more updates will be given as they are available.
