In an update from the City of Fort Atkinson regarding the Robert Street Bridge Construction project, last week the north abutment forms were stripped and the backfill was placed. The entire concrete deck is now removed. The crews will be shifting from demolition mode to placing forms and rebar for new construction. This week the crews will be placing forms and rebar for the abutment and wingwalls on the south side. Concrete pours will begin in those locations as well. Decking for the new bridge deck will begin, and that operation along with the rebar placement will take multiple weeks to complete. The barge and equipment in the water will be docked in the south span. The center and north span will be opened to boaters. Roadway traffic patterns will remain the same.
