City of Fort Atkinson Provides Update on Bridge Project

According to an update from the City of Fort Atkinson regarding the Robert St. Bridge construction project, last week removal of the east and west parapet was completed, and excavation at the north abutment started Friday. Motorists traveling through the Riverside Dr. and Robert St. intersection should stay alert and watch for dump trucks exiting the site and hauling the old pavement away.

This week, removal of the main bridge deck will begin at the north end and progress to the south. This removal operation will move at a measured/deliberate pace with barges in a set location for long periods of time. Boat traffic should be alert while passing under the bridge, and steer clear of the barge and equipment. Roadway traffic patterns will remain as currently set for multiple weeks.
