Busy Weekend For Janesville Police

It was a busy weekend for police in Janesville. On Friday afternoon, three subjects were taken into custody after a stolen car from Whitewater was discovered at a gas pump. Two 18-year olds, Trevion Church of Beloit and Thomdrecus Ross of Janesville, and a juvenile were taken into custody, while a 4th is on the run. They are all charged with operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent, while Church and the juvenile are also charged with resisting arrest and misdemeanor bail jumping.


Then, around 1:03 AM Saturday, a man was arrested for felony possession of a firearm and drugs during a traffic stop. 26-year old Marquise Vance was pulled over at W Racine and Chestnut streets for operating without tail lights. Probable cause to search the vehicle was determined, and then a K9 searched the vehicle. Vance attempted to flee while being detained before the K9 recovered him. Vance also reportedly tried to bite an officer. Vance is a convicted felon and was already on probation. Handguns and a large amount of illegal drugs and money were located during the search of the vehicle.He was held at the Rock County Jail on numerous charges.


Then, about three and a half hours later, around 4:50 AM police responded to a report of a shots fired call on Center Avenue in the 2300 block. Four to five shots were reported. Officers did not find anyone when they arrived, but they did find shell casings. Two men were described as witnesses as being near the scene, and 22-year old Gerson Antonio-Grenedo Rivera-Flores of Janesville was arrested for intoxicated use of a firearm and disorderly conduct. No injuries or property damage was reported.


Finally, Sunday morning around 4 AM, police made an arrest for a 6th offense OWI taking a 25-year old woman into custody. Officials say they responded to a hit and run in the 300 block of S Jackson Street. An officer in the area began looking for the vehicle and eventually noticed a vehicle dropping a fluid trail. The suspect sped away from the vehicle and after a pursuit, the officer cornered the vehicle. Alexandra Kjell from Janesville was arrested and charged with 6th offense OWI as well as numerous other traffic charges, however police say Kjell was not involved in the hit and run.
