Beloit Police Warning of Scam

According to an update from the Beloit Police Department, they were contacted by an individual who had been contacted by someone else saying they were doing fundraising for Beloit Police and Beloit Fire. The police department says they do not have anyone doing fundraising for either department, and are asking that you do not donate to anyone claiming to be from Beloit Police or Beloit Fire. The police department also noted that a few scams have occurred recently where a person was told to remove money from their bank and to deposit it into a Bitcoin machine as a way to “protect it.” If anyone ever tells you the way to pay off a warrant, protect your money, or pay your taxes is to put it on Apple, Target, or other gift cards, it is a scam.
