Beloit Police Respond to Sunday Shots Fired Incident

According to an update from the Beloit Police Department, a report of shots fired was taken on Sunday shortly after 10 p.m. on Summit Ave. and Dewey Ave. Witnesses in the area stated there were individuals in a tan SUV shooting at a man who was riding a bike. The man on the bike reportedly returned fire. Evidence of shots fired was recovered, and one home in the 1600 block of Porter Ave. was struck by gunfire. While officers were investigating this complaint, a tan SUV drove past the scene. Officers made contact with the driver after he pulled into a driveway in the 1800 block of Porter Ave. Officers noticed an illegal substance in the vehicle, and also located a handgun during a search of the vehicle. The driver, 29 year old Jamal C. Shaw, was arrested for possession of THC, carrying a concealed weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm.
