Beloit Police Give Update on Animal Neglect Calls

According to an update from the City of Beloit Police Department, they have gotten several messages about a Husky dog which was called in as a neglect case. The Police Department's Community Service Officer, who is also one of their Animal Control officers, went out and investigated the neglect claim. The dog is 14 years old and has a cancerous growth. The owner agreed with the Animal Control officer that the dog likely should be euthanized. When the Animal Control Officer went to the house, the dog did have shade, water, and food which is what is required by law. The Animal Control Officer did not have grounds to have an arrest made for Animal Neglect. Officers are still working on this case, and more information will be provided if it becomes available.
