Beloit Police Department Investigating Threat Outside Beloit Memorial High School UPDATED

In a press release, the Beloit Police Department has provided more information on the soft lockdown that occurred at Beloit Memorial High School today. Police were made aware of the threat at about 8:02 a.m. A thorough search of the building was conducted to ensure there were no weapons on the premises. The school district made the determination for an early release, which occurred without incident about 1:30 p.m. Additionally, all after school activities and practices were cancelled. The police department is continuing to investigate the origin of the threat, and anonymous tips regarding this incident can be made through the Greater Beloit Area Crime Stoppers at 608-362-7463.

According to a post from the Beloit Police Department, they are investigating an anonymous threat outside of Beloit Memorial High School. The school is on lockdown, and officers are in communication with the school district. Parents and guardians are asked to not come to the high school at this time, and students will be in their classrooms until the lockdown is over. The police department will communicate additional information as they are able to.
