The City of Beloit has once again been named Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. In 2022, the City of Beloit Forestry Division planted 175 trees in city parks and terraces. It was honored for the 35th year with the Tree City USA 2022 distinction.
Beloit achieved Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program’s four requirements:
• Maintaining a tree board or department
• A tree care ordinance
• Dedicating an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita
• Hosting an Arbor Day observance and proclamation
In 2022, the City of Beloit Forestry Division planted 175 trees in city parks and terraces. The Forestry Division maintains an estimated 35,000 trees. The Public Works Forestry Division will hand out small evergreen at the Downtown Beloit Farmers’ Market on Saturday, May 20th as part of the annual Public Works Week.
