According to an update from the School District of Beloit, many Beloit Memorial High School Jazz Orchestra students who participated in Essentially Ellington received awards for their performances. Kai Wong was awarded for outstanding piano, Jonathan Garrett was awarded for outstanding drums, Naoki Nikora was awarded for outstanding clarinet, and Kai Wong (piano), Gabe Wick (guitar), Merrick Wales (bass), Tony Severson (bass), Taitt Galvin (drums), and Jonathan Garrett (drums) were awarded for outstanding rhythm section.
