Beloit City Council Approves Plymovent System for Fire Department

At the Monday night Beloit City Council meeting, the council approved a budget amendment for the Fire Department Plymovent System. In an effort to reduce fire department personnel's exposure to carcinogens through vehicle exhaust, the department will be installing a Plymovent Ventilation System in all stations. This project is funded through the Assistance to Fire Fighter's Grant program that the department received in August 2021, and the grant requires a 10% match from the receiving organization. The fire department will be utilizing anticipated excess funds from the Mobile Data Computer CIP project to fund the match for the Plymovent installation. The grant provided $186,409 for the project, and the match from the City is $18,641. The total project cost is $204,053.
