14 Year Old Male Drowns in Town of Sullivan

According to a press release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday at about 6:50 p.m. they received a 911 call stating that a swimmer had gone under the water’s surface at N2899 Roger Road in the Town of Sullivan and could not be located. The water area on this property is a pond-like feature that is located on approximately 2 acres of land. The pond is used for swimming by its owner's and guests.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office immediately dispatched Fire and Rescue to the scene. Units from Western Lake EMS, Rome Fire, Sullivan Fire, Ixonia Fire, Helenville Fire, Jefferson Fire, Fort Atkinson Fire, Lake Mills Fire, Whitewater Fire, Watertown Fire, Lebanon Fire, and Beaver Dam Fire Departments were all on scene.

As Fire and Rescue units arrived on scene, witnesses provided information for Rescue Diver's to enter the water and begin searching. Rescue Diver's continued searching until 9:35 p.m., then searching operations had to be suspended due to nightfall conditions. No recovery had been made at that time.

On Sunday, the on-scene command was transferred over to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Dive Team. At 7:30 a.m. search of the water began. The Sheriff's Office worked in conjunction with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources using their underwater submersible drone with sonar and camera technology. At 8:33 a.m. the recovery of a 14 year old male adolescent was made within the area being searched.
