Williams Bay Residents Raise Concerns About Development
Updated: Jan 26
A petition was filed in Williams Bay over placing a one year moratorium on developing lakefront property. According to the LGRN, the property is owned by the University of Chicago . The petition is in response to the application filed by the university that allow for a change in the woodland property zoning to a residential property from institutional. If approved, the university would be able to sell the property to land developers. The plan has received pushback from Williams Bay residents and village leaders have expressed concerns that the plan would see summer camps attempt to do the same thing. 200 signatures are required before it can be filed with the clerk, and then the village board would have 30 days to either accept or reject. If rejected, a public vote would be required to decide on the issue.
