Whitewater Election Report
The Whitewater Banner reports that 43% of the ballots that were cast in Tuesday’s election were of the absentee variety. The election was reportedly “very slow”, due to a lack of national interest, but the number is stills trong, but not as large when compared to the 60% that were filed absently in November. A large percentage of the voters appeared to be in the 50+ age bracket. Voting in Ward 5 was especially low, with only 125 votes cast. Additionally, the Banner says that three of the four common council seats, which were filled by women, will increase the number of female members of the seven member council to three from its previous two.
