The City of Jefferson is looking at the potential to upgrade the city’s water meter system. Todd Clark, the Utility Director for the City of Jefferson Water/Wastewater Utility, noted the benefits to this improvement; including the ability for residents to receive alerts regarding leaks and water usage. The process of installing a new system would begin around May and would be completed near the end of 2022. The cost is about $790 thousand, with $400 thousand coming from the American Rescue Plan Act. Other funds will be split between the Water and Wastewater Utilities. More information on the project will be given as it becomes available.
