Tree Removal on Main St. in Jefferson

According to an update from the City of Jefferson, as part of the downtown streetscape construction, city crews will be starting to remove existing street trees along Main St. starting this morning. These trees have become safety hazards due to root heaving and will be replaced with a variety of more appropriately sized trees later this year. Existing trees will be removed along S. Main St. on the east and west sides of the street from Racine St. to Dodge St. During removal, parking stalls and sidewalks will be temporarily closed in the areas city crews will be working.
