Town of Milton Debates Fire Service Situation and New Town Hall
In a special board meeting on Thursday, the Town of Milton authorized an offer that they plan to make on vacant land that would house a new municipal building and more. The Milton Courier reports that the new municipal building could house the town hall, police and a proposed Town of Milton Fire Department. There was no specification on where the land was located. A new town hall has been discussed for years. In addition to considering its own fire service, the town has looked at merging with the Janesville Fire Department, or another department, such as Edgerton. The City of Milton said in a special meeting on Tuesday night that it would only negotiate on behalf of the city, and narrowed its fire service options to either merging with Janesville or creating a City-run department without the Town. The City and town have long worked together to run the Milton Fire Department.
