Town of Geneva Still Working To Get Referendum Passed
The Town of Geneva is trying again to get its fire service referendum passed. According to the LGRN, the question will again be placed on the ballot, this time for the April 6 election. The referendum asks for an increase in property tax levies to help provide full-time firefighters and paramedics to the Elkhorn Area Fire Department, who is the department that serves Geneva. If approved, a homeowner of a $100,000 home would pay an additional $29.40 a year in property taxes, while a $200,000 home at $58.80. The referendum failed in the November election, but passed in every other community serviced by Elkhorn Fire.
