Town Of Beloit To Hold Hearing On Wildlife Feeding
The Town of Beloit is expected to schedule a public hearing in regards to feeding birds at township parks. The BDN reports that a proposed ordinance banning feeding wildlife is being suggested. The code enforcement officer Jeff Pearson reiterated that signs are already posted asking residents not to feed wildlife. First offense fines for feeding wildlife exceed $250, with penalties increasing after subsequent offenses. Public works staff says they have previously asked residents to avoid feeding the geese, and as they continue to get fed, they return in greater numbers. The public hearing is tentatively scheduled for March 15.
