Teacher from Burlington Arrested on Sexual Assault Charges

According to a press release from the Burlington Police Department, on December 7 they received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an inappropriate, and possibly sexual relationship between a male school teacher, identified as Zachary P. Wendt from Burlington, and a 16 year old female. The Burlington Police Department’s Detective Bureau interviewed the victim, her mother, and others. As a result of the interviews and other evidence, detectives arrested Wendt for 2 counts of sexual intercourse with a child, 2 counts of sexual assault of a child by a person who works or volunteers with children, 3 counts of possession of child pornography, and causing a child to expose intimate parts. Wendt is currently held at the Racine County Jail on a cash bond of $500 thousand.
