Suspicious Package; Shelter in Place Order in Beloit Twp
The Town of Beloit Police located a suspicious device while on a welfare check Thursday. According to a press release, officers responded to the 2000 block of South Dewey Avenue. It was there that officers located a suspicious package. The Winnebago County Explosives Ordinance Disposal Team was called in to the scene and nearby residences were told to shelter in place in a basement. The Rock County Sheriff’s office assisted on the scene, and once the scene was deemed secure and there was deemed no threat to the community, individuals were allowed to resume normal activities. The Town of Beloit says the investigation is considered over.
