Sun Prairie Man Sentenced to Prison for Tax Evasion
A Sun Prairie man who committed income tax evasion was sentenced to federal prison on Friday. Thomas Laugen who owned and operated Global Vending LLC which supplied video games to class b alcohol beverage license taverns, restaurants and bowling alleys. Laugen would split the cash profits with tavern owners generated from the machines with Global vending getting 25% and tavern owners getting 75%. As part of the plea deal Laugen admitted that he skimmed cash receipts and did not report the skimmed receipts on his state sales tax or his state and federal income taxes. The total loss from the skim was 548 thousand dollars for the years 2010-2017. Laugen was sentenced to a year in federal prison and ordered to pay back the 548 thousand dollar to the IRS and Wisconsin Department of revenue.
