South Beloit Police Respond to Wednesday Burglary

According to an update from the South Beloit Police Department, on Wednesday officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Gardner Street in reference to a possible burglary in progress. A South Beloit Sergeant was in the area and quickly arrived at the residence. The Sergeant began setting up a perimeter around the residence, at which time a subject exited the rear of the residence carrying a backpack filled with lengths of copper water pipe. The subject was taken into custody and admitted to breaking into the residence to steal copper. The subject was identified as 58 year old Kenneth Hill of Beloit. Hill was charged with Residential Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property and was lodged at the Winnebago County Jail.
