Rockford Man Charged After Hit And Run, Leading Police On Chase
A Rockford man has been charged after a variety of related incidents in Walworth County, including driving through a garage, pushing a woman out of a car, and leading police on a chase. The LGRN reports that 27-year-old Dezon Banks-McKinney is facing charges for the incident. The criminal complaint states that officers were called on Christmas Eve to a Delavan residence for a hit and run. Police were informed that a vehicle had hit a garage door and was heading down Interstate 43 with a female in the vehicle. The vehicle was later spotted on Highway 14 in Darien going more than 100 MPH. A woman who spoke with officers was on the phone with the woman who was hit and taken from the scene. The woman who was hit was eventually pushed out of the vehicle on Highway 14. Police pursued Banks-McKinney until he crashed and fled on foot, but was eventually caught. Banks-McKinney is charged with second degree recklessly endangering safety, false imprisonment, obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct, all as a repeater.
