At last week’s Rock County Board meeting, an important topic of discussion revolved around additional funding for overnight warming shelters. This program is managed by the Sheriff’s Emergency Management Bureau. Funding is used for hotel fees for those who need a warm place to sleep, and last year the program operated for about 200 nights of lodging and served about 60 people. This year the program has been activated 8 nights already, and has served 31 people. The county board voted unanimously to use $25 thousand from ARPA funding towards the program.
