Rock County Board Discusses American Rescue Plan Funding and Uses
A primary topic of conversation at Thursday night’s Rock County Board Meeting was the American Rescue Plan Funding and Uses. County Administrator Josh Smith led this conversation, and discussed the four separate uses of the American Rescue Plan. These include:
Respond to public health emergencies and it’s negative public impacts, including its impact to households, small businesses, nonprofits, travel, and hospitality.
Provide premium pay to eligible essential workers, or grants to eligible employers with eligible employees.
Replace revenue losses in the county budget.
Make necessary improvements in water, sewer, or broadband infrastructure.
It was noted that the rescue plan funds are not to go towards funds for pension. Payments will come to the county in two separate installments. Rock County can expect to see the first installment around May 11 of this year, and the second installment around May or June of 2022.
