According to the Watertown Fire Department, this morning at about 7:20 a.m. they responded to a report of a potential gas leak at Riverside Middle School. Fire Chief Kraig Biefeld described that dispatch believed the leak was outside, but upon arrival crews found it isolated to a classroom near an entrance. The leak was isolated to that one room, and students were held outside only for a short period of time due to the cold. They were able to come back inside in a separate area of the building due to cold temperatures and the fact that gas levels were not hazardous. Fire Department personnel were on scene for about half an hour, and school was able to resume as normal as conditions were deemed as safe.
