Pinehurst Replacement Project Discussed at Rock County Board Meeting
During the Rock County Board Meeting Thursday night, Sheriff Troy Knutson discussed the Pinehurst replacement project, which is currently a building that is part of the Sheriff's Office. The Pinehurst facility was built in the 1920’s and was not designed to be a sheriff’s office, and Sheriff Knutson stated that a new facility would help the department with better security, improve communication for officers in the building, and better serve the public. Other goals for the project include adding additional jail beds, better inmate programming, indoor and outdoor recreation for inmates, and more. The project would be done over a series of phases beginning in 2022 and would end approximately in June 2025. It would cost $96 million to be spread out over 15-20 years. The meeting is posted to the Rock County Public Meetings YouTube channel, and more information on the project can be accessed there.
