According to a media release from the Burlington Area School District, at a recent open house, a piece of artwork inside a Karcher Middle School classroom generated some attention. Back in September of 2018, students advocated to bring in a speaker and artist. During the assembly, the artist completed a piece he drew in black and white, then flipped the piece over so students could see the finished picture, which was Abraham Lincoln. The artist then asked students about their school colors and mascot to personalize the piece. Burlington High School and Karcher Middle School claim the Demons mascot and colors orange and black, hence the coloring and horns on the piece of art. The release from the district says “The Burlington Area School District encourages positive messages that help nurture the character of its students to become productive citizens within the community. The district is committed to ensuring that every student experiences a deep sense of belonging.”
