According to an update from Palmyra Public Safety, on Friday morning Palmyra Public Safety and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash with the occupant trapped on State Highway 59. The occupant was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured. Responders gained access to the vehicle through the sunroof and assisted the occupant from the vehicle. The occupant was released from the scene to a friend. While crews were operating on this scene, another driver drove through the scene at a high rate of speed while coming into close proximity and nearly striking law enforcement, towing, and EMS vehicles. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has taken enforcement action with the driver.
